Our sparkling wines

Our sparkling wines for more luxurious wine moments

At Jerome Choblet we produce quality sparkling wines from a blend of Melon de Bourgogne (Muscadet Cotes de Grandlieu), Grolleau Gris and Chardonnay grapes (IGP Val de Loire). Like all our range of wines, all our sparkling wines are produced in a sustainable and traditional way.

Behind the characteristics and typicality of our sparkling wines lies a strong reflection of the terroir, from Saumur to Nantes region, a history, and a lot of passion and commitment.

Using traditional method with aging on lees

All our sparkling wines are made using traditional methods. After bottling, we do a secondary fermentation at low temperature and age, the wine on its lees for at least 24 months. The aging process adds complexity and body to the wine.

The result is a sparkling wine of rare delicacy, with very fine and persistent bubbles. The subtle blend of the 3 master grapes (Melon B 40%, Grolleau Gris 40% and Chardonnay 20%) of our domain also gives our sparkling wines a greediness and a very pleasant freshness in an Extra Brut wine.

Sparkling Saumur wines

At Château La Salle, Jerome Choblet and his partner Michel Houdebine produce a range of quality Saumur sparkling wines from a blend of Chenin, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Grolleau Gris and Gamay. For the famous sparkling Saumur Rosé, we use a blend of Cabernet Franc 67%, Grolleau Gris 28% and Gamay 5% to add fruitiness to the sparkling rosé.

As with the rest of our wine range, all our sparkling wines are produced in a sustainable and traditional way.

Characteristic aromas of the sparkling wines

Immediately after opening the bottle and pouring the wine into the glass, you will perceive a pleasant aromatic floral note in the nose. With subtle fruity, mineral and slightly iodized notes, we find here the typical characteristics of Loire wines.

When tasting, a harmonious and elegant mouth will reveal all the floral aromas of the wine and a lingering sensation of effervescence in the mouth.

Once again, thanks to the extremely favorable location of our region, our sparkling wines offer a fresh, rich but zesty palate, sometimes with hints of coffee – all perfectly balanced and long.

Sparkling wine and dining

As for tasting, our sparkling wines go very well with fruity desserts or chocolate cakes. It can also be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif or during a celebration.
